Cardiff Coal Exchange

The Coal Exchange in Cardiff Bay dates back to 1886 and has a rich history. It was here that the world’s first million pound deal was signed and it was a central market place from which up to 80% of the world’s coal was traded.

Macob is currently undertaking a phased approach to the redevelopment of the Grade II landmark building which will ultimately result in 140,000 of refurbished office space being available.

Space will be available from 100 sq ft to 12,000 sq ft on affordable and flexible terms. The space is expected to appeal to creative and design firms looking for easy in easy out lease arrangements.

Since Macob bought the listed building in 2001, it has become a popular live music venue, as well as a destination for award ceremonies and private functions. Super Furry Animals, John Cale and Ocean Colour Scene have all recently performed sell out gigs here in the 1,000 capacity hall.

The site will be developed in phases over the next three years. Phase 1 will represent 17,500 sq ft; phase 2 will be 37,500 sq ft; and phase 3 7,500 sq ft, with further phases to follow.
